Mahealani

The first rain for many weeks. Cedar's lacy fingers dripped.

Rain drops dangled from branches of tiny Gravenstein apples

Queen Anne cherries coming ripe. Robins already hungry for them.

Laukahi (the male plants) are thick and tall this year. Enjoying the rich soil from my former garden.

The whole orchard floor is laukahi (plantain) The broad leaves of the wahine (female) plants grow along side the English daisies.

I harvested lau'lapa'au (healing herbs) of laukahi during the Hoku and Mahealani phases to make a poultice for a wrist sprain. Good timing. I am mending well.

  1. Here's a link to more uses for Laukahi (Plantain). My friend Jt posted this on Facebook. Good gleaning, rather than weeding!
